Macarons the new Cupcake?

Is it just me or does it seem like the craze for cupcakes is nearing the end and a new craze for macarons has started. I keep seeing them pop up in magazines, cafes and all the food blogs I read. Now I feel like one. Might have to hunt down a recipe for a Christmas one as only 9 weeks to go.
